The original comic

"Alvar Mayor" scripted by Carlos Trillo and illustrated by Enrique Breccia was published between 1976 and 1983.

Alvar, our tireless traveller, the mestizo son of Pizarro´s cartographer, offers his services as a guide to the region to gold-seekers, treasures and lost cities during the 16th century Spanish Conquest, unraveling through his adventures the very essence of Colonial and Indigenous America. Sword fighting, the greed of gold-seeking expeditionists, heroes, warriors and monsters, magic, pre-Columbian myths and legends intertwine in an atmosphere of magic realism.
